Gotham Knights is just a few months away, and the developers have shared some big news regarding the status of the game.

Development studio WB Montreal shared new gameplay footage on Tuesday, showing off how Red Hood and Nightwing can work together to take down criminals. While Nightwing has an acrobatic fighting style, Red Hood uses (ostensibly) non-lethal bullets and bombs. These are just two of the characters that are playable in Gotham Knights, as players can also take up the mantle of Batgirl or Robin.

Gotham Knights is slated to launch on Oct. 25, 2022. It’s coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and PS5. While the game was originally planned to launch across Xbox One and PS4 devices as well, WB Montreal shared that the team is dropping the last-generation versions of the game in order to ensure the “best possible gameplay experience” for players.

Gotham Knights was originally planned to release in 2021 as a cross-generation title, but the game was delayed for further polish. It seems like the decision to drop the older consoles was made as part of that polish process. The game’s story is set in a world where Batman has seemingly died, and it’s up to the Bat-family to stop criminals from taking over Gotham, including the mysterious Court of Owls.

Other upcoming titles from WB Games include Rocksteady Games’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which was first announced as being exclusive to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5, and is currently scheduled to arrive in Spring 2023. Meanwhile, Avalanche Software is working on Hogwarts Legacy, which is still a cross-generation game and is slated for a Holiday 2022 launch.
